The scientific paper highlights the creative activity of representatives of Shkibliak-Korpaniuk’s artisan dynasty of folk woodcarving arts from the Hutsul region. The article traces the progressive development and transformation of compositional schemes, the variety, and richness of geometric ornamental motifs in woodcarving. This fact testifies to the extraordinary talent, gift, and the introduction of new features into traditional folk woodcarving artworks by each artisan. Thanks to the activity of many generations of folk artisans of this glorious dynasty, a powerful centre of folk woodcarving arts has developed over more than one hundred and fifty years in Yavoriv village, of Kosiv district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. This centre currently remains well-known not only in Ukraine but also beyond its borders. The creative work of Shkibliak-Korpaniuk’s family influenced the formation of a distinctive and recognizable stylistic technique in Hutsul woodcarving. The above stylistic technique still has successors of these traditions, while at the same time it is distinguished by innovative technical methods and new, diverse compositional and ornamental motifs. The aim of our study is to identify the characteristic features in the work of individual representatives of Shkibliak-Korpaniuk’s folk artisan dynasty from Ivano-Frankivsk region through the diversity of ornamental motifs and compositional solution, the application of new technical and technological methods, as well as to trace their contribution to the development of Hutsul woodcarving at the present stage. The article also outlines the influence of artisans, men and women, from this creative family on the other forms of folk decorative and applied arts that are traditional to this ethnographic sub-region. The work also highlights that the traditional school of Hutsul folk woodcarving art, founded by Yurii Shkribliak, currently continues through the activities of art educational institutions where representatives of the Shkibliak-Korpaniuk’s family worked and continue to work, in particular Kosiv State Institute of Decorative Arts, Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Vyzhnytsia Professional College of Arts and Design named after Vasyl Shkribliak.
