Abstract

The article examines the main trends in the design of public interiors using biophilic design. The study determined that there are almost no scientific works on the use of water elements, natural and artificial, in premises. The role of water elements and their varieties, which determine the relevance and prospects of their use and indicate a significant impact on humans, is analyzed. It is indicated that natural and artificial water elements in public interiors are manifested in the following: visual and tactile perception by humans; improving the aesthetic appearance of space; increasing positive emotions, which are important for improving people’s health. In this regard, a systematization of the best design developments has been developed, which indicate the diversity of author’s concepts that actively introduce water elements into the design of public interior spaces. A strong connection with other natural elements in space has been identified, which help create a compositional accent in architectural space. Summary tables with visual material are proposed, which actually demonstrate the aspects of implementing water elements in the design of premises. Purpose. To analyze and reveal the importance of using natural components and artificial analogues of natural forms in the interior space. Research methodology. Based on the method of analysis and synthesis, a systematization of the use of various water elements or their artificial analogues in public interiors is proposed. Results and discussion. The results of the study will help to determine the main modern directions of solving the design of public interiors using water elements, where the presence of additional components is also important, including: stones, wood, plants. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the identified directions of implementing water components (natural or artificial) in public interiors allow us to demonstrate their positive impact on humans through the use of traditional or innovative techniques in solving their design. Practical significance. Analysis and systematization of visual materials indicates the compliance with the sustainable development strategy and allows using the results of the research in the design solutions of students in professional disciplines, taking into account innovative design techniques.
