Abstract

The aim of this work is to analyse the compositional and stylistic arrangement of CGI space in contemporary music album covers design. This study is based on a synthesis of systemic, art-historical and cultural approaches, which makes it possible to consider music album covers as an integrated design system whiten the context of 21st century digital visual culture and the transformation of visual media. The work considers CGI space created by digital means based on computer-generated images, which ensures the organization of a holistic musical image and the compositional and spatial logic of its visualization. It has been proven that the CGI space of 2020s music album covers function as a conceptual digital model of an emotionally charged visual environment for identifying a musical product. A generalisation of current design practices in the music industry has allowed us to identify new experimental ways of representing musical imagery. These are systematised into three main types of CGI space: hybrid-digital (a sympathy of photography, 3D graphics and collage), parametric (algorithmic variability of forms, structure and effects) AI-generated (created with the involvement of artificial intelligence tools). It has been established that the visual language of musical imagery across different types of CGI space is characterised by a variability, multi layered structure, dynamism and metaphor, shaping the interpretation of musical content. The study presents for the first time CGI space as a conceptual model for organising the visual environment in contemporary music cover design. Their role of different types of CGI space in shaping the visual image and atmosphere of modern music is defined. The results of the research are valuable for practising designers in creating relevant visual solutions for media content. The materials can be used in education contexts as a source of inspiration in graphic design, visual communication design and digital art
